I’m not your average lawyer

A lot of people have preconceptions about in-house lawyers, their background, how they qualified and even where they might have studied. Leave all those preconceptions behind, because I’m proof, the mould is breaking.

Straight out of college, I found my place on a law degree through clearing. I didn’t have enough A-Levels, and frankly, I didn’t actually want to be a lawyer. It wasn’t a family career, a nudge from tutors or a slight foot in the industry. It was just chance.

When I finally discovered the in-house career, I came up against a series of brick walls including being told it wasn’t possible for someone like me. Defying limiting advice, I pursued my own route, trained in-house, qualified and succeeded.

To this day I continue to challenge industry standards across all levels in the aim of increasing accessibility and wellbeing for all. We are human, not just lawyers and it’s about time the industry allows us to thrive.

Through sharing my journey, filling in the in-house gaps and keeping it real, I pledge to be your in-house wing-woman.
